It is undeniable that various causes shouldtake the responsibility for this issue. To begin with, the traditionalstereotypes is one of the most powerful causes to lead tothe phenomenon. specifically,in most people’s impressions, boystend to show natural domain dominant strength inthe ability of analyzing understanding comprehending and logical thinking than thecounterparts who have opposite sex ,which suitableall these characters put them in an advantaged positionfor science learning. In schools and universities, girls tend to choosearts subject, while boys choose science subjects. What are the reasons? Do youthink this trend should be changed?
It is well known that malesgenerally choose science subjects in schools and universities, while females arelikely to choose arts subjects as their major. It is necessary to explore thereasons behind this phenomenon and analyze the pros and cons of this trend.
Traditional stereotype aboutmen and women is the main cause of this phenomenon. It is widely believed thatmen are more suitable for scientific research because they are born withrational thinking and exploration skills. If they choose to enter the artsfiled, they will be questioned by their friends and families. On the contrary, girls are considered to have the talent of arts, such as literature andlanguage, so they should choose the art field to do what they are good at. Whatis more, women are less accepted in the field of science, while men’sperformance in the field of art is also viewed with suspicion.
I think it is good toencourage students to try unfamiliar subjects. Men can integrate theirexploration skills into the creation of arts, and women can also perform theircreativity in the field of science. Meanwhile, male andfemale students can also be encouraged to try different subjects. Tryingdifferent subjects may motivate their potential, because everyone has differenttalents. In addition, in such a diverse society, more comprehensive abilitiesare more conducive to the employment of young generation.
In conclusion, gender prejudice that causesthis phenomenon should be eliminated, and students should be encouraged to trysubjects that they are interested in or expert in.
