首页 大材小用指大器物摊派小用场，表示使用不当。比喻才能很高的人屈就于低职位，不能充分发挥其聪明才智；也指人事安排不恰当，以致造成屈才和浪费。

1. overqualified
(1) qualify “（使）有资格，（使）有权力”
(2) overqualified “（对某职位而言）资历过高的，大材小用的”
英语解释为if you are overqualified for a particular job,
you have more experience or training than is needed。
例
Aren't you a little overqualified to be delivering messages?
你来送情报有点大材小用了吧？
I don't know. You seem kinda overqualified.
我说不好，你在这里真是大材小用。
2. overextend oneself
(1) overextend “把…做得过分，把…使用过头”
英语解释为to try to do or use too much ，
of something, causing problems, illness, or damage。
(2) overextend oneself “工作负担过重，
劳累过度，超过自身能力，不自量力，”
例
Maybe next time,
don't overextend yourself.
下次别这么不自量力了。
He's right. I overextended myself.
他说得对，我是不自量力了。
3. overeach oneself
(1) overreach “贪功致败，不自量力，试图做力所不及的事”
英语解释为to try to do more than you have the power,
ability, or money to do。
(2) overeach oneself “不自量力”
例
Last year, we overreached ourselves a little.
去年，我们有点不自量力了。
The company overreached itself.
这家公司的做法超出其能力。
还有一个常用表达：
bite off more than you can chew 承担力所不及的事；不自量力
We bit off more than we could chew in our original reform proposals.
我们最初的改革计划简直就是不自量力。
